It’s pretty simple to make your own room spray at home. And it’s a great idea, as you will know exactly what’s in it and avoid using potentially dangerous synthetic ingredients. Shop bought room sprays and scents can contain a cocktail of artificial perfumes that can cause havoc with those who have allergies or breathing issues, such as asthma. Recent research revealed: “Fewer than 10% of air freshener ingredients are typically disclosed to the public.”* Personally, I can’t stand artificial air fresheners, they give me a headache.
Essential oils can easily be used to make a safe and gorgeous essential oils, and the beauty is, you can choose exactly how you’d like to smell. If you hate lavender, leave it out. If you are allergic to linalool, pick essential oils that don’t contain it. You can find a full list of those by clicking here.
Not only can you make your spaces smell amazing, but you can choose oils that will help you with your mood and your emotions. For example, need to concentrate? Add some rosemary. Need to feel calm and sleepy, add some mandarin and frankincense. Feeling really hormonal? A spot of geranium will do you good.
