My gorgeous new body scrub! A blend of organic coconut oil, magnesium-rich Epsom salts, hydrating and soothing oats with herby essential oils to gently but effectively scrub your body, sloughing away dead skin cells, cleaning and adding moisture all at the same time.
With a wonderfully aromatic and herby blend of essential oils to help boost circulation and detox the skin.
This is just for the skin on your body, not on your face.
Directions: for use in the bath or shower. Scoop out a handful with dry hands. Massage into the skin on your body (arms, legs, feet, tummy, thighs etc) in small circles, add a splash of warm water to create a milky emulsion, then rinse off. Use twice a week. Regular use allows dead skin cells to be gently removed, allowing the top layers of skin to more easily absorb the rich, hydrating ingredients.
Once you have scrubbed, you can leave the lovely milky emulsion in the bath whilst you soak so that you benefit from the soothing oats and magnesium-Epson salts.
Once out of the bath or shower, simply pat skin dry gently. You should be soft and moisturised but should you need a little more hydration, follow by applying one of my gorgeous organic body oils such as Calming Organic Body Oil or Organic Purity Rose Body Oil.
So why are these natural ingredients so good in a body scrub?
Organic virgin cold-pressed coconut oil: naturally antibacterial and antifungal, an excellent skin moisturiser, it can penetrate skin better than many other oils. It blends extremely well with Epsom salts to make a body scrub as it moisturies whilst the salt scrubs.
Organic Oatmeal: deeply anti-inflammatory, oats soothe irritation, soften skin and promotes clean and clear skin. Oats also work as mild soap, as they contains saponins, which is a cleansing agent. They are often used in the treatment of eczema due to their anti-inflammatory and soothing nature.
Lavender Essential Oil: anti-inflammatory, cell-regenerating, calming and cooling for the skin.
Juniper Essential Oil: great for muscular aches, pains and spasms, poor circulation, and helps relieve stress, anxiety and insomnia.
Why use Magnesium-Rich Epsom Salts in a Body Scrub?
Benefits: Epsom salts are one of the oldest bathing remedies and with good reason; here’s just a handful of benefits: they help to calm problematic skin, increase magnesium levels, relieve stress, bring muscular relief to the body and help the body to reduce toxin levels.
The Problem: Many, if not most, of us are deficient in magnesium – you can take a supplement, try to increase magnesium rich foods in your diet, such as spinach, pumpkin seeds, natural live yogurt, almonds, avocado and bananas…. or you can soak in a gorgeous aromatherapeutic bath with my body scrub.
Why do we need it: magnesium helps the body regulate hundreds of enzymes and plays an important role in many bodily functions, like muscle control, electrical impulses, energy production and the elimination of harmful toxins. Magnesium deficiency causes heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis and joint pain, digestive problems, stress-related illnesses, chronic fatigue and a number of other ailments. Here’s some science: while the magnesium we eat in foods can be poorly absorbed through the stomach, studies show increased magnesium levels in the body from soaking in a bath of Epsom salts because it is easily absorbed through the skin.
