This gorgeous, orange calendula oil is handmade by me using the marigold petals I've grown in my organic garden. It can be used directly onto the skin, it is classed as a carrier oil or base oil. But why would you use it direct on your skin? Well, it has so many skin benefits, I'm actually not sure where to start:
- It is naturally rich in salicylic acid, a natural skin repairer, which helps to moisturise skin, helping it to shed dead cells and keep pores clear. This means it helps to fight excess oil on the skin, whilst maintaining natural moisture levels.
- It's calming and soothing on the skin, because it contains fatty acids that help to moisturise and hydrate your skin.
- It is ideally suited to stretch mark, including post pregnancy stretch marks.
- It has anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that might make it useful in healing wounds, soothing eczema, and relieving nappy rash.
- It's anti-inflammatory properties and can help calm redness and inflammation and ease skin discomfort, which makes is perfect for eczema-prone skin.
- It is suitable for all skin types, even very sensitive skin; It’s so gentle that it’s safe for babies as well as those with very sensitive skin or dry skin.
- Because it helps to keep your skin well-hydrated, it will help delay skin aging;it is proven to increase the hydration of the skin, which will prevent skin alteration and early aging. The studies also note that “it was found that the formulation had the ability of inducing skin tightness which prevents the damage of skin and also delays the aging process.”
- It aids wound healing; recent research showed that using calendula oil increased skin healing time in women who’d had c-sections. It’s healing for small wounds to the skin too, like insect bites, blisters, and little cuts.
- It works incredibly well as an after-sun oil, for sunburned skin.
- It will help to relieve itchy skin.
- Naturally high in Vitamin A Vitamin B1 Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6 Vitamin E (small amount) and Salicylic Acid
Directions:
Apply directly to clean skin - can be used on the face and all over the body. As a face oil simply massage a few drops into your face after cleansing and before your moisturiser. Can also be blended with other oils of your choice.
You can also use it as a cleansing oil - massage into your face and neck, then remove with a warm damp muslin cloth.
It doesn't have any smell and does not contain any allergens, so it's free from linalool, limonene and benzyl alcohol etc.

The oil is perfect for cleansing & moisturising. Lisa was really helpful supporting me to identify which products would be suitable in light of my linalool & limonene allergies, and other ingredients that I needed to avoid.

I use LJ’s homegrown Calendula Oil in two ways, one in the bath as a moisturizer and one rubbed on my skin after being in the sun, I love that it feels so luxurious but also sinks in quite quickly so doesn’t leave residue on clothes or bed linen. It feels so lovely knowing it’s from her garden and so natural. Perfect for me as I am allergic to linalool and lots of aftersun over the counter lotions contain it, even the natural ones – so this is perfect!

I have regretfully developed an allergy to linalool and decided to do Lisa’s skincare quiz in a quest to find natural products good for my skin that don’t trigger conjunctivitis. Lisa recommended her homegrown calendula oil as a cleanser and I loved it, highly recommend!

This is a lovely product and a great natural way to hydrate your skin. My dry and eczema prone skin has reacted well to it. I have replaced argan oil with this oil as it feels better on my skin. Would recommend!

I’ve been using the calendula
Oil for a while on my body as I have very sensitive skin and I absolutely love how moisturising it is and definitely recommend it.

I thought my skin always felt great using LJ’s Very Sensitive Organic Moisturiser on its own, so I hadn’t previously been using a face oil – but the list of benefits of calendula oil and the fact that it was home-grown tempted me to try it! I have now been using it for a couple of months, mostly on my face, and I love it. My skin feels so hydrated and soothed after a drop of this followed up with a bit of moisturiser – especially nice now that winter is drawing in, which tends to dry out my skin. A little goes a long way so it’s great value for money.
