Do you know if you should rub or pat your skincare into your face? It’s an important consideration, but does it really make a difference?
You might have heard of K-beauty, that’s Korean Beauty, and it’s brought us a whole load of intersting products and techniques. According to K-beauty, patting on some of your skincare products is much more beneficial. Why?
Well rubbing your skin can pull and stretch at it and make it stretched and saggy. This is particularly true of the very thin, delicate skin around the eye. When you pat your products into your skin, you are not tugging or pulling at the skin, but you are gently increasing the circulation of the skin.
I must admit, as a busy working mum, I don’t spend a great deal of time on my beauty regime, and sometimes I just quickly rub some Superfruit Face Oil into my face after my bath and that’s me done. But since reading up about the benefits of patting, I’ve been really focusing on this, especially around my eyes, which are looking a bit rough after this long, hard, locked-down winter. I get some oil onto my hands and rub it into the palms of my hands, and then gently press my hands all over my face. It actually feels really good and like a lovely bit of self-love at the end of the day.
So in terms of your routine, which products are you going to rub or pat:
Cleansing: yes OK you will need to rub a little to get off make-up and the days dirt and pollution. And gently rubbing with your organic muslin cloth will help to exfoliate. But rather than a “rub” let’s say a gentle massage.
Toner: using your reusable cotton pad, gently tap and wipe.
Face Oil/Serum: definitely pat, especially around the eye.
Moisturiser: again, just another little pat.
Hope this helps you to get the very best out of your LJ skincare. It should also make your products last a little longer. Try it for yourself and let me know how you get on.
